Night Out In Hobart

T’was a Friday afternoon- late January sometime. We were contract Cherry Pickers in the Huon Valley. After a long weeks work and fresh pay in our banks, we pickers decided to hit Hobart for a night out.

Hobart looked much the same as any other major city, only a little smaller. We started drinking at the OLDEST PUB IN AUSTRALIA – and I think that is what it is actually called. It was an original old pub, nice settings inside and pleasant patrons. The pub seemed to interest the older generation a little more – but it was a good starting point as there were no fights over pool tables.

From here we did the rounds, pub after pub. There were dingy corner pubs, with creepy, chubby men with plumbers cracks. The superior Pubs full of the wine drinkers. Your standard pub with young to old, and live music and Irish Pubs.

After a few drinks at each we decided to head to the Night Club. It was the most popular in town and situated near the wharf. It truly was a good little Club with three levels. First was a standard Pub style. Second was club / dance music and the third was crazy rave style.

All and all it was a very friendly city. No hassles from anyone and I felt very safe.
